On February 8th, 2005, an event regarding the cultivation of strawberries took place for the first time, but we can already tell that it will stay permanently on the HORTICO program. The idea for organizing it arose as a result of broadened partnerships with producers of dessert and industrial strawberries.
Invited guests had the opportunity to listen to the lectures prepared by HORTICO company.
Dr. Jerzy Lisek from the Institute of Pomology in Skierniewice exhaustively and interestingly discussed the problems with weeds in strawberry cultivation.
Mrs. Agata Szczerbiec from the Organika Azot Chemical Plant advised on which preparations to combat diseases and pests. She also paid special attention to the loss of crops due to presence of fungi and pathogens.
Dr. Krzysztof Fatel, a representative of Yara Poland, discussed the proper fertilization of strawberries, taking into account increase of their nutritional needs in the growing cycle. A lot of time has been devoted to the importance of fertilization before and during harvest, which pays off in reducing crops losses.
The Agrimpex company’s representative Mr. Andrzej Karwat, introduced the company’s new products, presented a new P18 reinforced non-woven fabric, as well as the advantages of its usage, such as accelerating yielding and preventing it from occurring due to frost.
Finally, Piotr Dunal from POLGER, presented HUMISTAR preparation, along with its mechanism of action and the benefits of its use in strawberry cultivation, in particular its usefulness in the production of the dessert strawberries.
Each lecture was supported by a multimedia presentation. The interactive form of strawberry problem-solving training provided information on how to effectively deal with problems occurring on a daily basis with strawberries cultivation.
